Mastermind Group Checklist
You’ve learned what a mastermind group is and how it works. Now, you’re really considering joining one, but you’re still not so sure.
Being in a Mastermind group is also a lot like being in a relationship. It’s a commitment and your willingness to make it work plays a big factor in its success. Knowing what you are about to do can help you decide. So to ease your mind of wondering if a Mastermind Group will work for you, why not ask yourself these questions:
- Are you willing to support others with their goals at no cost?
This is an act of generosity, and some may not feel too comfortable working with people they just met. For some, it is easy to form a sense of camaraderie and being professional. Also, helping others more won’t earn you brownie points. It is an act of giving without asking or expecting anything in return.
- Are you open to other people’s thoughts, ideas, suggestions and recommendations?
Members must always come into the meetings with an open mind. Other members may have recommendations and suggestions regarding your goal. The best thing to do is not to take anything personally. It’s just all about a business idea and purely professional.
- Are you willing to make time for meetings?
One of the key elements in a mastermind group is time. Members would make time to meet and discuss their ideas, challenges, as well solutions. In order to do this, members must attend scheduled meetings. You may have to sacrifice a few hours of your week to do this.
- Are you willing to share your skills and knowledge?
A mastermind group creates a neutral and friendly environment. There is no competition here. Think of it as a group of business associates helping each other with their individual businesses. You need to freely share what you know without thinking that other members would take advantage of you.
- Will you be accountable to work on achieving your goals?
Will you do it as you said you would? Again it is a commitment. The support system will be there for you all the way, but you also need to pull your own weight. The only way you’ll reach your goals is if you work on them. No one else can do it for you.
If your answer to these questions are all YES, then you are really ready to participate in a mastermind group. Find one that will suit your goals, you can even form your own mastermind group if you like.
