The 3 Truths of Modern Business and the Internet
Brick and mortar businesses everywhere are literally struggling to outdo each other these days. And in the corporate world, big brands overshadow small business. PERIOD. Seems a little harsh, but that’s just the way it is these days.
Or so we thought.
The Internet or as I’d like to personally call it the great equalizer serves to make things easier for the little guys these days. In this article, I’ll tell you about 3 truths that explain why the Internet is the best place for you to strut your stuff. Check it out:
Truth #1 – Marketing has shifted from a one-way broadcast to a multi-point conversation.
Folk, it’s literally about being in the online places where your customers hang out and engaging them. And the more you get to know each other, the better. Oh, and this often includes you actually listening and responding to what your customer has to say.
Why is the Internet the ultimate channel for that?
Social networks, of course! In this channel, you can engage and manage your fan base. It’s a helluva lot easier these days through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and more. These channels allow you to engage with your customer and build your relationship with them.
Truth #2 – People online seek and make recommendations for products, services and experiences for friends and followers.
Speaking of social networks and engagement, the second truth explains one single thing: conversions are much higher when people trust you. It may sound a lot like a no-brainer, but it’s really more than that.
You see, the purpose of engagement is for people to consider you the authority of your niche (the head honcho, the go-to guy, the boss, etc). When you’re able to be that, people will usually respect your recommendation and take it – but the web has literally allowed you to be more than the boss – you become someone they really trust.
So if they trust you enough, they’re not only going to make this single purchase – they’ll take everything you recommend for the long run.
Truth #3 – Marketing online isn’t an option anymore – it’s a friggin’ requirement
They don’t call this generation the Google generation for nothing. Literally, the Internet, social networks, the rise of different kinds of sites have affected people so much these days that it’s literally a part of their lives.
That includes goods, services – literally the kinds of things you can and should provide to your audience.
The best part about these truths? It favors no big brand and everyone starts off on equal footing.
So now you’re probably asking:
How the hell do I start?
Allow me to answer that in 3 items:
- Get out there and get found – this means being in the right online places and social networks where you target audience is.
- Engage – never let go of the chance to develop a new relationship with the person who you know you want to work with.
- Follow-up – once you’ve developed that relationship, conversion rises and at the end of the day (provided your product truly delivers), you help your audience out too.
That about wraps it up for why you should take your business online. Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
