With the advent of Content Management Systems like WordPress and WYSWYG HTML editors like Dreamweaver, even a kid in grade school can put up his or her own personal website or blog.

Business owners can definitely leverage from these tools. Or, they can be wise and leave the website creation to professionals so they can concentrate on their core business.

Web Development Outsourcing is definitely the way to go. But it is important also for any one contracting a Web Designer or Developer to understand the process of developing a website. The process of building a Website is very much similar to building a House. Below is the Web Development Life Cycle that I follow in all of my web development projects:

Discovery

Most of the planning is done on this stage. All the website requirements are gathered, analyzed and documented here. This stage can be likened to the phase when the Architect meets up several times with the client who wants to build a house. The client describes to the Architect what he wants sometimes shows him pictures and cutouts from magazines to show how they want the house to look like. The architect then translates these “wants” into a blueprint that will be the master guide for everybody who will be participating in building the house. The most effective way for me to go about this requirements gathering is with the use of a questionnaire.  You may also check out my other post on Website Planing.
