Without clear and audible sound, video blogs would be useless. Of course you can always rely on a great microphone for that, but you also need good audio recording and editing software. Here’s the deal, you don’t need to be too technical when it comes to audio recording. No need for fancy electronic equipment to record audible sound.

I’m an online entrepreneur and I need good resources that would work for me. For that, I got Audacity. This is reliable audio recording software that I actually got for FREE. Aside from being free, here are some reasons why the software works for me:

Mac or PC? – Probably one of the main questions when it comes to any software is its compatibility with the operating system you’re using. One of Audacity’s features is that it works on Mac and PC, as well as GNU/Linux. So the difference in operating systems is not an issue.

User-friendly recording and editing – When you look at my video blogs, you’d notice there are some posts when I did voice-overs. I used Audacity on those. And as you know my niche is Internet Marketing and not sound recording. The software is simple to use and easy to figure out. Just click on the record button and you’re set then click on stop when you’re done. I suggest using a microphone even if your computer has a built-in microphone to ensure the quality of the sound. Editing is also a breeze with Audacity. The basic editing features are available such as Cut, Copy, Paste and Delete. Plus, I don’t have to worry about retakes. This means I don’t have to retake the whole recording if I make a few mistakes; I just need to repeat those sections and cut or trim the errors.

Multiple Effects – Part of the editing process, you can add several effects on your recording. This also helps when you want to remove constant background noises like static and hiss. You can also customize your recording by altering the frequencies with Equalization, Bass Boost, and more. Personally, I rarely use these effects but it’s great to have this level of control on your recording.

Import and Export – Audacity caters to importing several sound files. You can edit them or combine them with other recordings too. Import and export WAV, MP3, and AAC files among others. When exporting mp3, you need to download the codec separately.

I like sharing video blogs because I think it’s effective in getting the message across. It’s great for software walkthroughs as well. Clear and concise message is highly important in video blogs, making Audacity a very handy tool. Not only that, you can also use this if you decide to do your own podcast.

Try using it, download it; it’s free anyway. Maybe your business will benefit from video blogs too. Why not start with using Audacity?
