Recently, I discussed the essentials of Facebook Marketing. I’ve even shared the webinar replay for it. Now, it’s time to give a little extra by sharing my top tips and tricks to make your Facebook Marketing efforts even more successful.

Tip #1: Seed you community – This means tapping into your network like your friends, family, and associates. Your initial followers won’t be strangers; they will be the people whom you know. Share your content with them first and you will eventually gain new followers from their network.

Tip #2: Provide Engaging Content – Facebook, or social media in general, is all about connecting with your network. It is also for sharing information or ideas. So make sure you have something valuable to share. These can be in various forms such as:

Your blog posts

Engaging photos

Infographics

Questions and Polls

Caption This!

Fun and humor

Timely content

Tip #3: Run a Contest –This is a great way to engage with your followers. Also, it’s one of the quickest ways to market your brand/products. Get creative with your contests, it can run an entire week or just a once a week thing. Ask followers to post a photo, “Like” a post, or post a comment.

Tip #4: Use Facebook Ads – Brands need to take advantage of this feature. It can help get your brand and offers be seen on Facebook, not to mention widen your network. This helps reach out to your target market too.

Tip #5: “Like” and Follow other related Facebook Pages – This will help you reach your target audience as you “Like” and follow other related Facebook Pages your audience are already interested in. Engage with them there.

Tip #6: Build Relationships – This is one the most important tip of all. Building relationships are not just about gaining new customers but it’s also about knowing your audience and empathizing with them. You must also listen to what they are saying and respond accordingly. Do they need support or new information? Provide them that. Also, add value without the need of compensation. Provide valuable information.

Facebook marketing is just one of the important aspects of internet marketing. This social media platform helps us engage with readers and customers. Moreover, it’s a great way to expand your network and show the human side of your brand/business.

The first thing you want to do is set up a Facebook page for your brand. So you might be asking, “Why do I need a Facebook page, when I already have a Facebook profile?”

Here are the main differences between a Facebook Profile and Page

Usage – Facebook profiles are for personal use to connect with friends, while the Page are for businesses and brands.

Friends and Fans – Our connections in Profiles are called friends while in Pages, we call them Fans.

Size of Network – In your Facebook Profile you only get a maximum of 5,000 friends, whereas in your Page, you can have unlimited fans.

Performance Metrics and Analytics – This is a way to measure how well our page is doing. It is only available in Facebook Pages

Promotion – Facebook Ads are primarily available in Facebook Pages. On the other hand, in Facebook profiles there is now a way to promote your posts.

When it comes to setting up your Facebook Page, here are a few tips to consider:

Use a Cover Photo that talks about your brand – It must be attractive and attention grabbing. Also, it should say something about your brand. It should not be an ad space and must not include any references to websites, contact numbers, address, etc., as this is against Facebook’s terms and conditions.

Choose a relevant username – The format will be www.facebook/username/. For example, my Facebook Page’s username is www.facebook.com/InternetMarketingPH. Don’t forget to check the available username and confirm the other details before finalizing everything. Because once you select your username, you can’t change it anymore.

Fill up the About and Info section – Make sure it is keyword rich. Don’t forget to complete the company profile and description.

Use your Facebook Page Apps – This is a great way to promote your other social media profiles.

Leverage your business by setting up a Facebook Page.

Posting a status or an image on Facebook is easy, but knowing if somebody is reading it and if you were able to attract your target audience is another thing. Brands who have set up a Facebook Page can take advantage of its benefits. For one, they can measure the success of their Facebook marketing strategies.

Before going through all your brand’s Facebook posts, you need to define your objectives with each plan, strategy, and post.

What do you want to achieve?

Brand Awareness

Community Building

Visibility and Reach

Lead Generation

Sales

Whichever of these, having a defined objective can help set your intentions and your plan of action. Also, it will be easier to measure your success. You are now defining what does success means for your company. How can you say you have been successful with your efforts?

Next is to find out when are your fans most active. So you can schedule your posts accordingly. This is also helpful to get the most of your Facebook marketing efforts. You also need to research on when post types are most engaging. This just means, knowing the preference of your fans. Do they prefer seeing images in the morning and videos in the afternoon?

Remember, with all your posts you will go through this process:

Test → Measure → Optimize

Testing is the experimental stage where in you try something then you measure its success. See how effective it is and if it gives the result you are looking for. Optimize is when you go back to the drawing board to enhance and improve. You now ask yourself, what can I do better to make it more effective? How else can I improve this?

This process may never end because as time passes by you will discover new and better ways of doing things. It is a continuous learning and experimentation. So go and try it. See how else you can take your Facebook marketing efforts to newer heights.
