Word-of-mouth recommendation has always been powerful, even now when you can almost get everything online.

Today, it’s more important than ever because of the power of the Internet.” The Internet is a free space where anyone can almost say anything. Information is so available, that it can be hard for us to judge whether a piece of information is reliable or not.

Word-of-mouth marketing has traction because of trust. You can only earn trust and when someone you trust recommends a product or brand, you take it to heart. We put more value to people’s experiences compared to advertisements. It is because we like unbiased reviews from people we can relate to. The Internet’s version of word-of-mouth marketing can be seen in blogs and social media. Digital influencers unconsciously practice this as they recommend products to their followers. Brands recognize such strategy that’s why some companies provide sponsorships.

Next time you market a product; consider the power of word of mouth. Listen to what your customers are saying and how much influence they have on others. If you want successful word-of-mouth marketing, better engage influencers online and offline.
