Turning your Passion in to a business is one sure way to build a profitable and worthwhile enterprise. Entrepreneurs who take this route not only end up with a financially stable business, but also a venture that brings them a lot of joy, fulfillment and satisfaction.
Here a few reasons why focusing on your Passion is a sure way to create success in your new business venture:
1. Work and Play at the Same Time – I’m sure you already came across the saying “Work Hard, Play Hard”. This simply means that long hours of hard work should be balanced off with a lot of intense leisure activities. And it’s proven that a lot of people become more productive by applying this principle.
But think of the amount of productivity you will create if you are to do both at the same time, when work becomes play and play becomes work. Imagine the amount of energy, creativity and enthusiasm that you generate while working on your business. This will indeed make you literally jump out of bed every morning even on Mondays (specially on Mondays) because you know that your work for the day will not be the usual “eight to five, work inside the cubicle” type of job but a business that you LOVE to do. Work and doing business will never be the same again.
2. The Pleasure of Doing It – One common reason for newbie Entrepreneurs to give up on their new business venture too soon is the amount of demotivation brought about by the challenges in running a new business.
The first year of doing the business is normally the hardest. This is the year of the “birth pains” when start-up challenges will really test your determination and resolve as an Entrepreneur. And it’s partly because of this why nine out of ten new businesses close shop on the first year.
Given these start-up expectations, what will get you across the first year of the business birth pains is your love and passion for the business. This allows you to focus on the things that needs to be done and not on the rewards of the business. Working on a business that you are passionate about allows you to put your attention on the tasks at hand and focus on the plan (which you normally enjoy doing) and not be demotivated when things aren’t going your way.
3. Your are the Perfect Customer – Doing a business that you are passionate about makes you the perfect model of your target customers. This makes it easier for you to know your customers better and step in to their shoes to better understand their Needs, Wants, Pains and Aspirations. Not only do you get a piece of your customer’s mind, but you literally become one of them. This in turn allows you to easily build a relationship with your customers by addressing the things that they are looking for, which is key in creating loyal and happy customers.
And to end, let me share to you this quote from the late Steve Jobs:
I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself:”If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.
– Steve Jobs
If you are not happy with what you do right now, it’s about time to make some major changes and focus on things that you are passionate about. Don’t waste the best years of your life working on seemingly “practical” options with the hopes of you earning more time and money in the future so you can retire doing what you love to do. There’s a better option. Do BOTH at the same time by turning your Passion in to a Business, and opportunities of abundance and prosperity will surely follow.
