They say readers are the best writers. Reading doesn’t just work your brains out; it also lets you become more familiar with sentence structures and grammar. More importantly, reading fuels your creativity.
In a Copyblogger article, it says that writers can benefit from reading children’s stories. These books are categorized as “children’s” stories “because in each book the writer crystallizes a story into one clear, concise, and compelling message in about 40 pages, with just 50 (or fewer) words per page.
So what does that got to do with writing? Well, stories are important to business and marketing. It lets our articles become more shareable and easier to relate to.
Sonia Simone of Copyblogger says, “Stories are fundamental to how we communicate as human beings. Tell the right story and you can capture attention, entertain, enlighten, and persuade … all in the course of just a few minutes.”
Look at reading a story in a different light. Copyblogger suggests you look at the emotions, look at the characters, look at the conflict, and to look at the language whenever you read children’s books.
Copyblogger believes that you need to read a story with a purpose. See beyond the central theme, and then recreate what you learned to your own writing. One of the most important lessons you need to practice is simplicity. This trumps complication every single time. Your readers will even love you for it!
