According to Joe Pulizzi and New Barrett, “Before you create any more ‘great content,’ figure out how you are going to market it first.”
Marketing ourselves is how we let people know who we are and what we offer. First off, you need to have a clear vision of who you are and how do you want to be known. Are you a freelancer? What services do you offer? Next, you need to define who your customers are. One way to do this is by formulating customer empathy. Then, you need to research on how your audience wants to know the information you offer. You need to find out the medium of how they want to receive messages. From then, you can go ahead and create your content.
There is more to digital marketing than content. We need to understand and know who our audience is. We must listen to them and learn the best way to reach them. So next time you think of a great content, find out how to market it first.
