what is content marketing

Whenever you hear about Internet Marketing, you often come across the term Content Marketing as well.

In fact, at times the two are mistaken for each other; since the one way of effective internet marketing is through content. Content builds a website’s popularity and influence online. But what is it exactly? How do you define Content Marketing?

According to Copyblogger,

“Content Marketing means creating and sharing VALUABLE FREE CONTENT to attract and convert prospects into customers, and customers into repeat buyers.”

But what are these Content? These are information that can be in the form of blogs, photos, and even videos. Valuable content also means you just didn’t copy the content from another site.

People look for relevant and valuable information online. So the quality of content you put out will directly affect how you present and run your business. Sales pitches are not popular in the internet and it has been proven time and time again that it simply doesn’t work. What works is providing free valuable content without any sales agenda.

You may ask, if there’s no sales agenda then how can I market my products/services?

The answer is, provide “VALUE” and build “TRUST”!

Time and time and again, you would probably hear the phrase: “Content is King!”

Successful digital entrepreneurs have seen the power of valuable content and how prospects, followers, and readers crave for it. They don’t want the advertisement they see on TV, read in the paper, and hear on the radio. They want a no-nonsense approach online. In fact they don’t want an approach. They want an engagement. They want an interaction that modern technology can’t provide. The best way to engage them is again, through Content. And that’s exactly how you turn readers and followers into loyal customers.

As digital entrepreneurs, you must invest on relevant and valuable content. This also means investing on your grammar and writing skills. And even some technical skills when it comes to photos and videos. Nonetheless, it would benefit your online business in the long run.

One important fact to remember is NEVER COPY from another website. Google will know and your readers will find out eventually. And that would affect your credibility. However, you can paraphrase and say that the idea came from another source or website. Unless the content are originally yours, always cite your sources especially when it comes to quotes, photos, and videos. People say that when you post something online you are susceptible to be copied, but that doesn’t mean you should do it. Just think about your integrity. And really, your clients won’t trust you when this happens.
