Listening, talking, and engaging are three different things. But all three are essential when it comes to successful internet marketing.
Marketing has evolved through the years. Now, we can add content marketing the list. What’s the difference? Doug Kessler said, “Traditional marketing talks at people. Content marketing talks with them.” Kessler meant that content marketing engages people and lets them discuss the topic with marketers. Meanwhile, traditional marketing simply talks to the audience without fully listening to the people.
Listening is integral in knowing what people needs and wants. In content marketing, this is present. Entrepreneurs don’t dictate what products will work for their customers. It is the customers who let others know what does work. And in order to provide clients with the best solution, we as entrepreneurs must learn to listen, ask questions, and know our customers more. We need to talk with them and engage them to ask questions about what we are saying and tell us what’s wrong and right about it.
Communication is not a one-way street. With content marketing, it is more than a two-way street with the vast audience we are talking with. But this large audience will give us more ideas to help our customers even better. So don’t talk to your followers, talk with them and find out how else you can help them. Only then when we’ll be able to give the right answers and better solutions.
